A Web Page Doesn't Load Properly!

Personal Information

By default, GhostSurf is set up to block your personal information from reaching websites. You can learn more about GhostSurf's default behaviors in the corresponding article. Some websites, however, require personal information to function properly. A common example is hotmail.com. GhostSurf is smart enough to recognize some of these sites, but not all of them. Some will give you a message saying, "cookies required to access this site," and some may simply not function. For these you need to allow personal information to be sent, if you wish to use them.

Open the Privacy Control Center window, and find the site on the list of sites. Right-click it, and choose "allow everything" from the list that appears. This will allow personal information to reach the site, and the site to function normally.

Menus and Windows

Popup menus on websites are often implemented in the same way as popup windows. If you are blocking popup windows on a site, the popup menus will also be blocked. The menus may be important to you; for this site, you should not block popup windows.

Again, in the Privacy Control Center find the affected site and right-click it. Choose "allow everything;" this will unblock popups. You may wish to block personal information by choosing the appropriate item on the menu as well.

One-step Solution

If you don't want to take the time to configure GhostSurf to work properly with a particular site, you can always just turn GhostSurf's filtering and privacy features off when you visit the site. For this, from GhostSurf's menu (right-click its icon in the system tray) choose "Stop;" this will turn off GhostSurf's privacy features. When you're done using the site, you can turn the features back on using the "Resume" menu item in the same place.
